I saw the Adrian Ghenie show at Pace gallery in New York last Winter, I considered it the favorite part of my trip. His paintings looked like cake on the walls, then later after researching, I found out they actually were cake. The image above and others in the series were all hit in the face with pies. I enjoy the mix of representational, non representational, and collage.

Schutz series, self-eaters, was a number of paintings about self consuming humans something like the image above. I enjoy the works for the range of color Schutz achieves and the whimsical feeling they all hold.

When I first saw this piece I didn't like it. I thought it was a mess, it's a ripped canvas with cardboard and small items glued and taped all over it. But it is thoughtfully put together, which is why I am drawn to it. Something about its rawness makes you want to look at it longer, to figure it out. After a while I began to appreciate its nature.
